to hugin and other free panoramic software
OK so yesterday i was making 3 panoramas and the first one went good
the second on however kept crashing wile trying to align the photos.
so I restarted my computer and tried again and it worked but them when
i went on to make the third one it crashed again during aligning.
So Today i removed hugin and re downloaded it (2011.4.0 the same as i
had before) and it still did not work so i loaded and old project opto
file and tried to go to preview and it crashed.
That is when i realized its the fast preview option that's the
culprit.
So i try again only i set it to open preview window after aligning and
it worked.
My problem is that i don't like the preview window its layed out weird
does anyone know how to fix this or have this same problem.

There were some problems with fast preview crashing because of the
panorama overview. Search the mailing list a bit, you should be able
to find a workaround how to disable the overview so it doesn't crash.

Hi Rockman,

I've had a similar problem with Hugin crashing when I open Fast
Preview.

This occurred occasionally with older versions of Hugin, but it
appeared to happen much more frequently with 2011.4.

Increasing the size of the Image Cache Memory (under Preferences) from
256MB to 1024MB *seems* to have solved it.

Good luck!

one easy way is to load just one single image in hugin. Than open fast preview window and than disable Panorama overview windows in left side. Now whenever you will open fast preview windows it will not show Panorama overview which is main reason for fast preview window crashing.

I hope it will solve your problem

Just tried that (I have same problem with Hugin silently dying when
using the fast preview window). Didn't make a difference: fast pano
window never appeared, Hugin just vanished.

Then I renamed my .hugin preferences file (running Linux version) and it
came up and let me turn off the overview window. (Oddly enough, editing
the .hugin file and toggling the overview_hidden option from 0 to 1
didn't make a difference.)

Then I pulled in some images and ran them through the assistant, hit the
fast preview button ... and Hugin silently vanished away without
displaying the fast preview window at all.

:-(

Fortunately, the identical version of Hugin running on my desktop
machine has no problems. My 32-bit laptop has Intel video hardware. The
64-bit desktop has ATI Radeon video.
