2) so, i try to export as DXF, and all surfaces through the popup were converted as meshes to make things easiest and keep layers inside , after opened sketchup i click file-> import -> DXF, the file was recognized correctly but was a unique block with the layers loaded, so i must explode it to separate and achieve surfaces layered, but this option stucks sketchup that finally crashs with a splat- popup, however the file imported as DXF is not easy to manage, sketchup runs really slow and finally the only thing i can do is close it and retry with another attempt as collada or 3ds! the experience is the same, HORRIBLE, slow, and Insane.

Ok, i toke a look around and I thought it was a sketchup plugin for exporting files... simlab is a cad program (never heared before today) that is capable to export in several other 3d file, but the problem remains, cause if i try to export from simlab as skp it goes crazy after few minutes and remains stuck for ever with their spinning logo

i think the issue , the real issue is discover a way to ease the original file. there are in the warehouse whole exterior\interior skechtup projcts that are about 10MB or more. mine in 3ds format almost 100Mb in DXF the took 700MB and we 're talking about interior scenes! too much

using moi3d and exporting my files as 3ds (6mega with low poly option and run like a charm) i think the skp engine of moi could be a better solution i will try tomorrow, now i'm tired to experiment further

Hi can someone help me?
I bought and downloaded simlab step importer 10.0
The problem is that it is visible in extension manager but it is nowhere in sketchup.
Thanks for any suggestion to solve this

Okay I rebooted, ran the installer as administrator, it wanted to install into the %ProgramData% path (for all users) which requires administrative privileges. I said okay and then started SU2020, and the Extension submenu is there. I opened the Settings dialog and it seems to work as expected.

With SimLab Sketchup exporter, the Revit users will be able to transmit any Revit scene to SimLab composer at any time throughout their Revit session. This sketchup plugin facilitates the users to distribute their design in skp format.

As for the STEP files. I paid for the simlab Step plugin which has worked in the past on all of my other versions of sketchup. However this time it will not import my 3D STEP files. I have sent numerous emails to simlab (they are very patient). I sent them the STEP file and it worked on their computer. I sent them a step by step process with screen shots. sent them the preferences menu showing the program is enabled. still not loading the drawings.

If you need to handle with NURBS surfaces/solids from STEP/SAT/IGES files constantly you might want use a 3D NURBS modeler with a native STEP/SAT/IGES import/export which avoids the need to tesselate to facettes for a use in SU.

Slbaumgatner: - I clicked the import tab and went to a meeting this morning at 8:45. I just returned now at 9:50 and it was still processing (blue circle). I closed it out. The Autocad import was just a 2d shop floor layout not even a 3d rendering. Something in the program is not connecting the dots.

long delay since I last posted this, was off shore for a while. Back now and attempted to import a 2D CAD file and SU 2017 is still not allowing it to import. Tried disabling all the options and still not responding.
