To the best of my abilities of detection, it seems that the comments drop off on HP continues. Before the "revolt", I would have had at least 2 dozen come in after midnight and before noon on Monday. Most would be from commenters playing catch up and sending out some thoughts before they headed for work. It is now 2:00 pm cst and nothing has hit the inbox. Got to head off to the real world but will check back in about 7:00 pm cst.
Hope my idea on Halloween Parties gets some consideration.

See ya, Ken

Ken, I've sensed the drop in comments also. I think Huffington Post is definitely seeing a bit of steam being lost. What it's attributed to? Not sure, but it does seem a bit coincidental to the revolt.

Oh I did notice that the response/comments are lagging far behind and then the threads are also short.I've had people comment days later. Maybe this is the time when people are busy?  But I did noticed too, the abusive clicks are way down as well as fanned. Comments definitely are hours and days apart to my comments. And when they do show, still not much activity. Maybe no one wants to play with us anymore? They heard you have measles:-)

HP I'm sure keeps an eye on their visitor stats or rather visitor participation, then they must be aware as well.If you're noting a decline in activity. you know they are.

Meanwhile back at the ranch.....did you say Fire? Hope all is well and your town is not  burning....OK this time I won't say the obvious....as in Movie? :-)

So would you consider yourself a military brat?:-) I hear that phrase a lot down here in Fl. I think many retired to Sarasota, as they all seem to work for the County. My husband works for the County, I probably told you that....Anyway,  Nice guys , and a very proud bunch. Many Marines. So how was it moving from base to base?

Yep, got to say that I was a military brat.  Sad in some ways, great in other ways moving around the country, Utah to North Carolina to Illinois to Oklahoma to Mississippi Gulf Coast to Home Town into house that was built in 1908 that Ol' Dad bought in 1946.  When we got back for good in 1960, I was old enough to help remodel the place and after 50 years it is holding up very well and is as comfortable as an old shoe.  My prayer every day is to live out my life on this little spot of Heaven.  Sad, having to leave friends but great to make new ones.  Had a great sense of uprightness and independence instilled in me by a Dad that after a total of 35 years in the military refused to be sent to Vietnam as a radar technician.  When he got his orders in 1969 he told them he did not intend to go.  Some hot shot colonel fired off a string of profanities (always a bad move with my Dad) that he could go or take retirement,  Dad said "hand me the papers!"  Went on to give his reasons, 1. Went to one war (WW2) because it was the right thing to do and was the first to volunteer on Dec. 8th in his home county  2.  Got sent to Korea because he was dumb and had no better sense  3.  but the U. S. military had given him some REALLY good lessons in Korea and he had learned them well and did not intend to ever go back to the Asian part of the world.  Before he died, he made all of us promise that absolutely nothing in his obit or on his tombstone would mention Korea or Vietnam.  We honored his wishes but I did keep his medals from those conflicts as souvenirs.  My passionate hatred of "W' stems from my Dad's feelings toward that Village Idiot, when even in his last years, mentally impaired, he had better sense and more honor than that sorry, misbegotten bastard crook (Dad's terminology and he rarely used profanity).

Gone to check my emails, Ken.

Stranger and stranger!  Went from almost exactly Midnight Monday morning to Midnight Monday night without any email alerts from HP.  At one minute after Midnight Tuesday morning, they started up again.  What is that?  Inquiring Bubba's want to know.

See ya, Ken

Ken, Your Father sounds like he definitely cultivated a lot of great qualities. Which he no doubt handed down to you. Amazing where life takes people, and for the level minded , it has the potential to teach many wonderful things. It seems your Father was one of those individuals.

My oldest brother was in the recons/Marines. In the 60's before our "involvement" in VN, he went from Bay of Pigs to VN. Though they were never told exactly where they were. Top secret recognizance . He was in and out before we officially went in in.
War, archaic, brutal and aside from WWII, totally unnecessary.
