Important Meeting : Final team selections

For those who are deciding to free-ride this one : If you are missing this meeting without any intimation to anyone, Do not bother to enquire about your allotment to any team and move on with your life at Joka ! Adios !!

For the rest of us mortals who choose to enjoy creativity and arts beyond petty cv points: Now that Summer placements are over, We start painting the town red ! (bad one I know). We meet tommorrow, Monday evening at 6.00 pm on Audi stairs to select Final teams for our Mega events i'e Remini, Intag , Carpe and our flagship events. This will be the final team selection. Good News is that funds may not remain a constraint this year :) Also please think of some big ideas we can execute during the fests.

How about painting about our life at Joka. Places on campus and in calcutta

we can use a white bulb behind the painting to make it look like a halo and green fluoroscent colors in the outer region.

I think last time it was Lord Shiva..so this time we can try something different..some abstract painting related to music..or we can make some patterns on the back drop to give some 3D effect. We can also use bids, sequins, colored paper etc to make the patterns.

We can make use of light and coloured plastic sheets to give effect of colour and not paint it. 

Making a stencil kind of art, then using coloured transparent sheets and illuminating them with light. 

That would make the back drop vibrant and attractive

So shiva hasn't been done on campus before. Also, a shiva with a 'chillam' doesn't seem appropriate. I like the idea of Shiva's face and jata (hair) spreading around. More colours is a good idea since our painting will be Huge. Also, using transparent plastic sheets seems a great idea. but I suggest using them in addition to colours. What say ?

rather than plastic sheets alone, plastic sheets along with butter paper will look more finished.. what say ?

I love this idea! What I have in my mind is a combination of translucence and florescence.. some hybrid of X-ray images and colorful transulcent images... I like the atttached images of sHIVA... 

If we can somehow make a large cubical box using cardboard or plywood, our painting would stretch across one face.. the opposite face would be open.. we ll have some ligthing arrangements through that face... 

inside the box we ll stuff translucent paper or plastic sheets to give the translucent effect which will be more dense at the edges of the potrait... we can try colorful gelatin paper (thin plastic sheets) to give an awesome effect.

Apart from this box which will be our masterpiece, we can decorate the entire area with random real X- ray images hung up here to create a unique atmosphere.. have a look at the attached images..

really liked d x-ray concept, maybe we can make d skeleton play guitar or somethin on dose lines (my fav out of d pix above was purple skeleton wid gun)

few other ideas to pool in:

1. psychedelic images (some mosaic art/fractal image would go apt for this. multicolored zebra )

2. as we had last year, instead of lennon and morrison, we can add marley, hendrix, beatles, kurt cobain, snoop dogg.

3. there are many paintings of salvador dali which insanely trippy, can look into that.

PS: i hope d religious sentiments are well taken care if we're planning to draw shiva.
