Our Plenary Session on Wednesday, July 6 will include a special video message from Jack Dangermond of Esri including discussion of collaborative opportunities to make the world a better place. This session will also introduce our outstanding keynote speakers: Jim Enote, a member of the Zuni Nation and CEO of the Colorado Foundation, and Dr. Travis Belote, Director of Research at The Wilderness Society with powerful messages to address our conference theme of “Maps: The Stories We Tell”.
We encourage you to participate in our online Map Gallery where you can share your maps, StoryMaps, and other efforts live, while observing and enjoying the amazing work of others in the SCGIS community. At the SCGIS Membership Meeting, we invite you to learn more about membership and some of the planning behind our community.
At this year's conference, we also invite you to help us celebrate the 25th Anniversary of SCGIS. In the 'SCGIS at 25 Years' special session, we will explore the history of SCGIS with founding members as they share stories of how the organization got started and overcame challenges to become an international society. We will also ask questions and seek your input about how to best prepare for the next 25 years of conservation GIS.
We invite you to participate in 8 Technical Workshops that provide insight on the latest in technology, or join some of our 7 Curated Sessions and 50 Community Paper Presentations on a tremendous range of conservation GIS work by your peers.
We are excited to share this packed agenda with you. If you have not already done so, please
register for the conference and join SCGIS next week as we continue to support a global community using geospatial technology for conservation!
Best,
Jason Winner
SCGIS President
