DOT Small Business Day The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Small Business (OSDBU) invites you to “Mentorship, Careers, and Empowerment: Ladders of Opportunity for Young Men of Color”. Hosted by the OSDBU and OSDBU’s Mid-Atlantic Small Business Transportation Resource Center, this event will focus on President Obama’s “Ladders of Opportunity” initiative. Young Men of Color, who are in junior high school, high school, and college, please join us for this special event. Lunch is provided for students attending this event. Please attend in business casual or professional clothing. Professionals that are interested in participating as a Mentor, please register using the link below. Space is limited and an email confirmation from Randall Nossaman at the OSDBU office is required. You will experience the opportunity to hear from leadership in the public and private sector. After the speaking session concludes, there is an opportunity to interact one on one with professionals during the mentorship session. The one on one session will provide mentorship, advice on careers and internships, and focus on empowering Young Men of Color. The Administration’s “Ladders of Opportunity” for Boys and Young Men of Color focuses on the critical challenges, risk factors, and opportunities at key life stages to improve their long-term outcomes and ability to contribute to the Nation’s competiveness, economic mobility and growth, and civil society. Unlocking their full potential will benefit not only them, but all Americans.
