Thank you for responding to my LinkedIn message!

 

I am chairing the recently established ITU/WMO/UNEP Focus Group on AI for Natural Disaster Management. We will be building a community of experts and stakeholders to explore current practices (and untapped potential) in the use of AI to support:

 

• data (collection/monitoring, handling),
• modeling (reconstructing, forecasting, and projecting), and
• communication (early warning systems, etc.) of natural disasters.

 

On 15-17 March, we will have our first (one day) workshop and (two day) meeting (both online). I would love to get participation from experts and stakeholders in Africa. Is there any way that you could help generate interest and support outreach?

In particular, it would be wonderful to have interested parties join our (low volume) mailing list. Registration for the workshop and meeting is free and possible over our homepage. For any issues joining the mailing list or registering for the meeting, questions can be directed at the focus group secretariat (tsbfg...@itu.int).

 

Please note that the deadline for registration is 2 March.
