The Cities Coalition for Digital Rights (CC4DR)  and Afroleadership are inviting African cities staff and civil-society organizations interested in advancing digital rights in African cities to join a Work Group (WG) on Digital Rights in African cities.

 

The Cities Coalition for Digital Rights and Afroleadership have recently partnered to promote the implementation of digital rights in African Cities by:

1. Expand & reinforce the ecosystem of people-centred smart African cities
2. Advocate for digital rights in the context of African cities
3. Build capacity for digital rights & inclusive technologies in African cities

 

Who can join?

• Are you a civil servant from an African city involved in any aspects of human rights, digital human rights or digital transformation?
• Are you an expert with knowledge and interest in digital human rights and/or local governance?
• Are you a member of a Civil Society Organisation member with a clear interest in advancing digital human rights at local level? 

 

Then we would be more than happy to have you as a member of the Work Group!

 

What is the level of involvement? 

 

The Work Group will work on a volunteer basis and will be supported by staff from CC4DR and Afroleadership. Therefore, the time commitments will be flexible. We are asking to:

• Attend the monthly meetings of the WorkGroup
• Be able to invest minimum 2 to 3 hours per month of your time

 

As part of the Working Group, you will support one or several of the following activities:

• The definition of the action priorities to promote human rights in African cities
• Develop knowledge and raise awareness regarding the state of digital human rights in urban african contexts 
• Advocacy for african city administrations to join the Cities Coalition for Digital Rights and to take action to develop initiatives in line with its declaration on digital rights 
• Promotion of the role and voice of african cities in ensuring digital human rights at global level
