Dear Principal and teachers,
We are pleased to announce that we are accepting application for the 2015 STARTALK-CHELER Chinese Leadership Program for Chinese Heritage Schools.
This is the third year that we offer this professional development opportunity particularly for community-based Chinese school teachers and academic directors. This is a "hybrid" program, meaning that participants will have one month to complete an online course and spend one week in a live workshop at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.
After the 2015 STARTALK-CHELER experience, we expect:
• Teachers and highly qualified paraprofessionals (and, when appropriate, principals) have current knowledge and skills of Chinese language teaching and skills of how to use computers and other technology to enhance student learning in the Chinese heritage school context; and
• Academic directors have the instructional leadership skills to help them work more effectively with teachers to enhance student learning in the Chinese heritage school context.
This program, including technology, room and board, instructional materials, and tuition, is entirely free (a value of US $4,500) for participants accepted into the program. Please see attachment for details.
