如果一切顺利, 明天我就要被按立为加尔文神学院的第七任院长了。他们告诉我, 选举委员会在展开选举工作的时候, 常常以今天这段经文作为开会前灵修的内容。 当然, 我并不是有意将自己获选院长的经历, 和大卫受膏作王的经历相提并论, 只是我实在知道, 在神, 有很多不可能的可能。你是否也如此认为呢？倘若是的话, 我们还真的是知音了。 我相信, 神是很幽默的, 也明白, 祂能看到很多我们看不见的事物。当初, 撒母耳去物色君王的时候, 总是把外貌和身高作为先决条件, 就连大卫的父亲也不屑将正在田里劳作的大卫召回来, 给撒母耳挑选。然而谁又能料到, 撒母耳对耶西的这些儿子都不满意, 直到见到大卫, 神就指示撒母耳膏这个年少的牧羊人为以色列未来的君王。 这段经文倒给我一个提醒, 神才是最伟大的导演, 而非我。对外貌的偏见, 会妨碍我看到神要我看见的东西, 我要学会用祂的眼光去看待别人。 我祷告, 求神在我进入新的岗位之时, 将祂的眼光放在我的里面, 也求祂让我不可小看那些"不可能"的人。因为, 神或许就是要使用这样的人去建立祂荣耀的国度。 | The Lord willing, I will be inaugurated as the seventh president of Calvin Theological Seminary tomorrow. I've been told that when the presidential search committee began its search process, their opening devotions were based on the verses from today's Scripture. I do not mean to compare my selection to that of David, but I do know something of being an "unlikely" choice. Maybe you do as well. If so, we are in good company. I am sure that God has a sense of humor, and I know that he sees far beyond what we see. As Samuel came looking for a king, he was initially impressed by appearance and height. Even David's father hadn't bothered to call David in from the fields to appear before Samuel. It was only after all the other sons had been seen and passed by that Jesse sent for David—and God directed Samuel to anoint this young shepherd as the future king of Israel. These verses remind me that God is the great director—not me. I am also challenged to see others as God would see them. The outward appearance can get in my way of seeing as God would have me see. As I move into a new position, I pray for God's vision, and I pray that he prompts me to recognize the "unlikely" people that he aims to work through to build his kingdom. |

今天经文：撒母耳记上16:1-131 耶和华对撒母耳说: "我既厌弃扫罗作以色列的王, 你为他悲伤要到几时呢？你将膏油盛满了角, 我差遣你往伯利恒人耶西那里去; 因为我在他众子之内, 预定一个作王的。"2 撒母耳说: "我怎能去呢？扫罗若听见, 必要杀我。"耶和华说: "你可以带一只牛犊去, 就说: '我来是要向耶和华献祭。' 3 你要请耶西来吃祭肉, 我就指示你所当行的事。我所指给你的人, 你要膏他。" 4 撒母耳就照耶和华的话去行。到了伯利恒, 那城里的长老都战战兢兢地出来迎接他, 问他说: "你是为平安来的吗？" 5 他说: "为平安来的, 我是给耶和华献祭。你们当自洁, 来与我同吃祭肉。"撒母耳就使耶西和他众子自洁, 请他们来吃祭肉。 6 他们来的时候, 撒母耳看见以利押, 就心里说, 耶和华的受膏者必定在他面前。 7 耶和华却对撒母耳说: "不要看他的外貌和他身材高大, 我不拣选他。因为, 耶和华不像人看人: 人是看外貌; 耶和华是看内心。" 8 耶西叫亚比拿达从撒母耳面前经过, 撒母耳说: "耶和华也不拣选他。" 9 耶西又叫沙玛从撒母耳面前经过, 撒母耳说: "耶和华也不拣选他。" 10 耶西叫他七个儿子都从撒母耳面前经过, 撒母耳说: "这都不是耶和华所拣选的。" 11 撒母耳对耶西说: "你的儿子都在这里吗？"他回答说: "还有个小的, 现在放羊。"撒母耳对耶西说: "你打发人去叫他来; 他若不来, 我们必不坐席。" 12 耶西就打发人去叫了他来。他面色光红, 双目清秀, 容貌俊美。耶和华说: "这就是他, 你起来膏他。" 13 撒母耳就用角里的膏油, 在他诸兄中膏了他。从这日起, 耶和华的灵就大大感动大卫。撒母耳起身回拉玛去了。 回到页顶 | |
