I normally don't whitelist <google.com> et all because it is so ubiquitous it can serve as an excellent tracker. On the other hand, I need to login to some specific Google services sometimes (like this groups), so this page-scoped recipe has worked well for me:

There is a <google.ca> in there somewhere, you might want to change to something which matches your location. You can find out what would be necessary using:

(The result for me is <www.google.ca>)
