to Fiddler
I've tried the beta and the current version at http://www.fiddler2.com/Fiddler2/version.asp
The beta has a file version of 2.2.9.8 while the stable has the file
version 2.2.9.7.

On Windows XP SP3 with IE 8 both of these work.

On Windows 7 Professional 64-bit / Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385 it
fails with the message detailed below.
Any ideas?

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

This indicates that you have only .NET 4.0 installed and do not
have .NET Framework 2.0 installed. It's odd that Fiddler was able to
run at all, but to fix this, you'll need to install the .NET Framework
2.0 runtime as the installer should have suggested.

I downloaded the 64-bit .NET Framework 2.0. When I tried to install
it, a message displayed telling me that it was already installed.

I then downloaded the 32-bit .NET Framework 2.0. This time the message
was that I cannot install it on a 64-bit operating system.

Any ideas?

Running Vista or Windows 7 by any chance? (And 64-bit I'd guess?)

2.0 comes already installed.

If .NET2.0 is installed, the .NET 4.0 CLR shouldn't attempt to load
Fiddler2 because there's no manifest indicating that it's compatible
with .NET4.

I'll ask the .NET4 team.

Per the .NET team, the only way this should be happening is if you
have set a custom registry key named OnlyUseLatestCLR.

OnlyUseLatestCLR"=dword:00000001

The nodes to look for the reg key entry are

On 32-bit computers:
[HKEY_LOCAL_COMPUTER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework]
On 64-bit computers that are running 32-bit applications:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework]
On 64-bit computers that are running 64-bit and 32-bit managed
applications:
[HKEY_LOCAL_COMPUTER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NET Framework]

Can you check your registry for these keys? If not present, the .NET
team would like to investigate further.

Thanks!

EricLaw,

You are quite correct, I had set those keys when I had trouble with
Powershell 2 ISE.

I reset them both to 0 and now Fiddler loads successfully.

Thanks a lot!
