In the course of my work, I have to test various things in various browsers and find myself starting/stopping Fiddler all day long. Partially for capturing the traffic, and partially for the auto-respond feature.

What I want, is that only the browser traffic to go through Fiddler.

What I see, is that some or all of these programs below will find themselves going through Fiddler some or all of the time:

- Microsoft Lync (chat, screen share, voip calls, contact list)
- Microsoft Outlook
- Trillian
- Skype
- AIR apps (e.g. Tweetdeck)
- Any web-using program

Some programs have an option within where you can click to make it NOT use any proxy, but most don't, and are affected by the current IE proxy setting (that Fiddler auto-sets).

I know I can add domains into the proxy bypass window, but they get lost each time Fiddler stops/restarts.

Is there some reason you don't just click the All Processes item in Fiddler's status bar and just change the setting to Web Browsers?

If you want to preserve proxy bypasses, don't touch the IE settings; click Tools > Fiddler Options > Connections and use the box there instead.
