Hi!

My name is Yusuke Tsutsumi, and I was hoping to contribute to
HttpArchive. I spoke with Steve Sounders about a week ago when he came
to Zillow for a talk. We are currently using HttpArchive as a
performance-related feedback loop for our developers, and are very
interested in extending functionality in that area.

That said, how can I contribute? I've noticed Issue 154 (providing
BulkTest documentation) and a few redundancies in configuration
variables in the source that makes configuring private instances more
difficult. I'd love to work on these.

On a separate note, our ideal usage of HttpArchive would allow for
running tests more than once a day. Currently it seems the test's
highest resolution is a day. Steve said that originally the tests used
epoch time as the test's identifier, but were switched to date as it
was simpler. Is it possible to add an epoch time column to the DB so
we are able to hold multiple tests on the same day?

Thanks again for the great tool!

Sincerely,
-Yusuke Tsutsumi

Hi, Yusuke.

I was hoping I'd hear from you!

Please send a list of bugs you'd like to work on, and I'll reply with
comments. 154 (documentation for bulktest) seems like it should come
after we've improved the process - rather than documenting something
before changing it.

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Here are the tickets I'd like to work on:

180 (diff between two runs) would be useful as Performance tool, so
I'm very interested in that one.
170 (last data label is squished)
231 (same scale for waterfall and filmstrip)
131 (trend embedded anchors)
193 (make "about" a dropdown menu)
10 (add/remove columns for a view site table)

A couple out of those above would be great!
Aside from 180, I chose some simpler ones to just get started on.
However if there's anything you find more pressing, I'd gladly work on
those instead.

Hi, Yusuke.

Sorry for the late reply. I see you already submitted patches for 10 &
131! I'm turning my email off today and working on HA and hope to
incorporate your patches.

All the other ones you listed are great. Let me know which one(s) you
want me to reserve for you (so I and others don't work on them).

Thanks!

Hi, Yusuke.

I pushed your fix for #131! (Actually - I wasn't intending to have
visible links in the LHS nav, so I was inspired by your patch and
incorporated the necessary parts of the fix.)

I'd like to add you to the list of contributors acknowledged in the
FAQ. Can you contact me via http://stevesouders.com/contact.php and
provide the spelling of your name you'd like me to use (presumably
"Yusuke Tsutsumi") and, if desired, a URL to use as the link for your
name.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to the patch for #10!

I would like to contribute as well, but it looks like Yusuke took all of the good bugs :-).  I looked at the issues list and it seems like most of the bugs with the contributor flag are claimed (based on Yusuke's email).  Steve do you have some bugs in mind that are ready to be worked on by a contributor and that aren't already saved for someone?  Thanks!

25 - check robots.txt
62 - allow site owners to remove their site
95 - specify date range for trend charts - I can steal back from Jared
if u want it
183 - improve performance of "find url" widget

There are quite a few still availble. ;-)

Many of these will require more info. Please do that through the bug
itself so we have a history of the Q&A.

Thanks.

-Steve

Feel free to work any tickets I listed that aren't closed as well, I'm
not working on any at the moment :)

Great, thanks.  I'm working on some of these this weekend - I'll be commenting on the issues directly to log Q&A as Steve suggested.
