Dear Colleagues:

Many of you may have have heard about Global CE Day.

You can find out more about this annual celebration at http://global.icehtmc.com, and view some videos we used last year: https://youtu.be/8qxS3UPvAu4 and https://youtu.be/o9oIHwprZlc.

It is led by your Global Clinical Engineering Federation, the IFMBE Clinical Engineering Division (CED) - see http://cedglobal.org/organization-and-teams/, and chaired by Dr. Yadin David.

Global CE Day celebration for 2018  is upon us and you are being called to participate!

Global CE Day is an important recognition for all the contributions CEs make every day around the world to improve access to and the safety and quality of patient care outcomes.  All over the world more and more participants learn about our profession and its critical role in our lives.  Since 2015 this celebration has been growing and this year we ask you (and your colleagues in each country represented) to champion Global CE Day in your region.

What does that mean?

  1. Agree to be or select a country Ambassador.
    1. Please let Yadin and Kallirroi and I know as soon as possible who is the designated Ambassador.
  2. Start planning now.
    1. October 21st  is a Sunday this year; some will have activities the days prior and some after that Sunday. This is fine.
    2. Recognize your possible audience
      1. 'Official' Global CE Day will begin in China again this year on Oct 21st , in the city of Chengdu (the home of the Panda and Confucius).
      2. The opening ceremony in Chengdu will include Chinese dignitaries and colleagues such as Japan Association for Clinical Engineering, IFMBE, WHO, and CED (Yadin D & Tom J); with 500+ expected for a day-long program (with leading edge tools in use, eg, 3D Virtual Reality (VR) streaming video, etc.) Cool!
      3. A promotional video for the event website will be made by several colleagues this week at the European (Mediterranean) 8-country program in Italy, to be posted in September..
  3. Develop your own program (or link with another during that time period) on your own platform, typically 30-45 minutes to broadcast with streaming video around your country.
    1. CED can let you use our Zoom platform that day; but you/the Ambassador will operate the tool, as needed.
    2. Visit the Global CE Day website: http://global.icehtmc.com/;  where you can find many examples of country content from 2016-2017 showing the diversity of typical activities that CEs in your countries conduct daily.
    3. CED asks for a link to your program and a copy of the video afterwards, to be posted on the website.

There are many opportunities to help build up to Global CE Day this year - perhaps one near you, and where CEs can continue to tell their story around the world, see below.

Here is also a recent overview of current/planned CED projects.

Let us hear from you soon!  And join the celebration!

Thank you.
