Dear HT Colleagues:

Happy New Decade!

A year ago, IFMBE Clinical Engineering (CE) Division set out to create a new website to accomplish the following goals; resulting website now found at https://ced.ifmbe.org/ with website questions directed to in...@ced.ifmbe.org:

  1. Provide clear definitions of our profession; referencing the World Health Organization (WHO) Medical Device website definitions and information -  https://www.who.int/medical_devices/en/ - Accomplished, see  https://ced.ifmbe.org/resources/ce-htm-definitions.html
  2. Increase the number of worldwide CE societies affiliated to IFMBE CED                                Evidence of progress shown with our October 2019 Rome International Congress; see Congress report developed for ACCE News, attached.  As noted below, a major effort underway to help create new national societies
  3. Increase the number of worldwide CE academic programs.                                                     Work in progress; Education tab to be further developed in 2020.  Have added alot of CE-HTM Training in 2019, in Blogs now, searchable Training content coming, sign up 2020 webinars: https://ced.ifmbe.org/webinar
  4. Increase the number of attendees to the ICEHTMC.                                                                2019 III ICEHTMC in Rome had 1000 participants representing 70+ countries, nearly twice from earlier Congresses
  5. Increase the participation of key stakeholders in CE initiatives.                                               See November 27 CED Board and Collaborator minutes with Listing of Top 100 actions by the CED 'family' in 2019; CED family identified here:  https://ced.ifmbe.org/about-us/who-we-are.html
  6. Increase number of CE’s answering international survey on CE body of knowledge and practice           Article about earlier BOK/BOP survey results found here in the Global CE Journal - https://globalce.org/index.php/GlobalCE/article/view/70; here also the current survey link to add your data now;                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfvtucVwuhQrALeGw_la4VoXKvRU03KHuQb9RxVaAUH9cLlKw/viewform?usp=sf_link; note CED to provide non-Google survey link for China
  7. Get media attention for content delivered by CED.                                                                  Rome Congress an excellent global media event, welcome video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4J5r8E1nuJU; CED Social Media weekly postings began in 2019; join a WhatsApp group to gain access via FB, Twitter, etc
It has been an amazing start for CED with nearly 100 of you from the 6 global HT Regions (and 80+ countries) participating in 1 or more of several meetings this month to advance our Global Action Plan as well as your Regional & Country Action Plans.

As you may know, we had Regional HT meetings in December and January; notes from all of those Regional meetings are attached (and access to their Zoom recordings), please send to Kallirroi and me any corrections needed.
