Since most of you on this list are Austinites and hopefully one day open data will make all our lives better…

OpenAustin is working with the City of Austin, the Community
Technology and Telecommunications Commission, and a variety of
community NGOs to organize a civic application development weekend in
the Spring of 2012.

The weekend will take advantage of the presence of the City's Code for
America fellows, as well as the open data that the City will start
releasing this Winter.

This is a pivotal moment for OpenAustin as we move from our policy
focus for 2011 into the realm of building a civic hacker community now
that data is going to be released and an open data policy framework is
falling into place.

Please share your thoughts with the group about how you think we
should organize the event. And if you want to be more involved in its
production, feel free to email me (or respond to the group) to get any
additional details you might be interested in.
