Hi Everyone,
Brandon here. I've been getting a few balls rolling for HTML5tx 2012 over the last few days, and its time to engage the broader group for support.
First and foremost, let's talk about mailing lists. I have created a new, invite-only group for volunteers and will be inviting those of you who expressed interest in helping out this year. We'll still keep this group going for general discussions and topics that need broader feedback, or when we need help getting the word out about something, but I feel that it will be useful to also have a focused group for the folks working on individual tasks in the run-up to the event. So, if you want to volunteer, meaning you're willing to put in the time to own an important piece of this conference, email me directly and I'll send you an invite. If not, no worries, you'll still get updates here. Here are the folks on this list who contacted me about getting involved:
Clark Sell
Keith Casey
Sharon Cichelli
Tim Thomas
Jeff Carouth
Jake Wong
If you're not on that list and you want to be, let me know.
One initial issue for which I need some broader feedback is a date. I spoke to St. Edwards and asked for some available dates in late Sept. and early Oct., with the specific request that enough space be available for us to conduct the entire event in one building. The dates that look most favorable to us having the run of the building are October 6th and October 13th. Both are Saturdays.
So, here's what I need to know from you all: Are there any existing conflicts that you know of that we should be aware of when choosing a date? Which date seems better to you and why? Please note that, while I don't mind knowing about football-related conflicts, I'm more interested in tech events on and around those days, and those will take precedence.
Thanks everyone for your help! Looking forward to another great event in 2012!
