drawImage performance on iOS

On iOS, apparently drawImage with a canvas source is twice as fast as
using an image? http://jsperf.com/drawimage-vs-canvaspattern/5

Is this + JIT in iOS 4.3 + pixel snapping (http://jsperf.com/drawimage-
whole-pixels) enough for responsive canvas based games? I've been
using divs and CSS transitions for games, but I'd love to switch to
canvas for a future project.
