Saving the invoice online introduces a new, more efficient concept of invoicing called online invoicing. Not only it gives you the ability to keep your invoices safe and accessible online at any time, the online invoicing also lets you send e-invoices. Sending an e-invoice means immediate transmission of the document to your client (not PDF), which translates into earlier payment and gives you the certainty of document delivery in real time. Your client can access and pay the invoice from any device at any time by clicking a simple button. The process is fast, secure and error-free; and many times it results in receiving payments within minutes of sending the invoice (more info here).

How it works?

Almost every online invoicing system works on the “bill-is-in-the-email” principle, meaning anyone with an email address can receive an itemized invoice from you. However, instead of attaching a PDF, you email a link to the client, who then clicks and opens the invoice in a browser. Here's an example:

To better visualize how this works, we used Invoicebus to generate a live demo invoice. Click “Pay with Credit Card” and use the following test card to simulate payment (don’t worry, no real charge will be made):

The simple payment form allows your clients to pay instantly, without being redirected away to complete the transaction. This also works well on phones and tablets, so your clients save their details, connected to an email address and a phone number, and pay with a single tap (nobody likes poking at their screens to type long card numbers).

Besides receiving direct payments, you can also:

  • track when your client opens the invoice
  • avoid late payments by automatically chasing unpaid invoices
  • edit the invoice on-the-fly (correct mistake or tune-up the price without the need to resend it)
  • give your client an option to directly Print or Download PDF (no need to attach separate PDFs to your emails)
  • keep everything organized in one central place
