to HTM and Linguistics
Hi folks,

Any progress in this area?
I came across this group from James Tauber's site, which I reached via
Quisitions, from an ad at freerice.org. I had visited James' site
before, maybe because of Genealogy or XML.

I am afraid I had never heard of HTM or LSA before, but I should have.
I am interested in the general area, I may lurk a while until I read
up on things. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a good research
library, living in Cebu City in the central Philippines.

I work in IT management. At the moment I am studying Chinese again,
hoping to go to Taiwan for a PhD program in computational linguistics.
I am interested in things like Pustejovsky's Generative Lexicon, and
Copestake, Sag et al. on Minimal Recursion Semantics.

Recently I have been wondering how people, native speakers and adult
L2 learners, remember Chinese characters, how they are represented in
memory. Is there something like a WordNet of character forms and
meanings? How does it relate to more typical memory of vocabulary? To
memory of sign language vocabulary?

Cheers,

Fred
