SoI'm using calibre to load ebooks onto my Kindle Paperwhite and everything seems to be working just fine except when I try to use any of the Goodreads options on that book ("View on Goodreads" or "Add to Goodreads shelf") I get the error "There was a problem connecting to Goodreads." My Goodreads profile is hooked up and works for some other books just fine. I'm assuming there's something up with the way calibre is adding the metadata for that book but even after messing around with the ISBN data I still can't figure out what's wrong.

Get the Quality Check plugin for Calibre and then use it's "Fix -> Fix ASIN for Kindle Fire" feature. It expects that you have the Amazon ID in the book's metadata somewhere, which should be there if you download the metadata using Calibre. This inserts the ASIN and allows goodreads integration to work. I tested it myself.

One annoying thing is that it seems that if the Kindle notices that there's a mobi-asin field (which the above introduces in order to fix Goodreads integration), then it seems to download and use the cover art that Amazon has for that book, instead of the one you set in Calibre. I'm not sure if there's a way to circumvent that.

We know we can sideload books (most of them illegal downloads) but from Amazon's perspective most users should be using only Kindle eBooks. Amazon can provide good integration for (legal) content with their platforms.

The Kelly Kindle Cover is a quick crochet project that will protect your eReader device while looking classic and stylish. Featuring columns of raised stitches, this crochet kindle cover not only looks good but also protects the screen by keeping it slightly raised from hard surfaces.

So, for Christmas of 2022, I received a gift that is my most used device next to my computer that helps me run my blog: A Kindle Paper White and I love love love it! I love it so much that I immediately thought of what I could crochet to protect it.

While this pattern is designed for two color schemes (solid color or color blocked), you could absolutely make the crochet kindle cover in stripes, with three blocks of color, or any other color layout you decide.

Your finished Kelly Kindle Cover will stretch to fit the following devices: Kindle Paper White, Kindle Oasis, Kindle Kids, Kindle eReader or other similar sized devices (Approximately 4.75 to 4.9 inches wide by 6.75 to 6.9 inches tall).

I personally liked both the sheen and fiber content of this yarn for this pattern. You can absolutely use any brand you like and probably any fiber but cotton or a cotton blend will be best for durability.

This crochet kindle cover is worked from the bottom up and in closed rounds. We begin by creating chains and working into both sides of the chains to create a long oval. This is the bottom of the kindle case.

From there, we work several closed rounds to create the pouch for the kindle to rest in. Once we reach the depth needed for the height of the kindle, we add the loops that are used to secure the crochet kindle cover closed with buttons. These loops are worked directly onto the pouch without cutting yarn.

While I believe an advanced beginner absolutely could follow this pattern, you will need to be familiar with these techniques and understand how to work them to feel confident doing so. The photo tutorial included in the PDF pattern will walk you through all the special stitches and techniques as well as step-by-step through the pattern with arrows and dots for further clarification, if you need it. The PDF pattern for this crochet kindle cover is available on Etsy!

Approximately 4.5 inches wide by 7 inches tall when not on a device. Stretches to fit the following devices: Kindle Paper White, Kindle Oasis, Kindle Kids, Kindle eReader or other similar sized devices (approximately 4.75 to 4.9 inches wide by 6.75 to 6.9 inches tall).

To work a Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc), you will: yarn over, insert your hook from front of work to back of work between the posts of the previous stitch and current stitch and maneuver the hook back to the front of the work on the other side of the post. Your hook should now sit horizontal with the post of the stitch on the front of hook. Yarn over, pull a loop through. You will have 3 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops again.

You can review my full step by step fpdc tutorial on my blog, which includes details on the stitch anatomy.

The reasons a Kindle/Kindle fire won't connect to the internet can include anything from software problem to a wifi network misconfiguration, router issue, or internet service provider problem. Here is the comprehensive guide to troubleshooting connectivity issues.

To check whether your internet is working properly, you can just connect another device to this wifi. While routers and modems are usually consolidated into one device, they do different things. If you have a separate router and modem, check to make sure both are on and that they're connected properly. If you are getting problems, contact Internet Service Provider.

After checking above montioned points, your device is ready to connect wi-fi successfully. If you are still getting kindle won't connent to wifi, please follow the below steps for connecting your kindle to internet.

2. If a dialogue box appears, the on-screen prompt will ask you to confirm your intention to restart the device. Tap "Restart" to complete the process. More ways to restart kindle, please read How to soft wand hard reset kindle.

Restarting a router is a simple matter of turning it off for a few seconds and then powering it back on. If you are unsure how to do this, refer to your router's manual. Most routers have an on/off switch in the back.

Security flaws in the wifi standard were discovered. Many people installed router patches for it in the spring of 2021. One key change was the setting in a router for "protected management frames." By default, most routers had it set to use if supported by your device. This has been changed to "required." The older Kindle does not support PMF so cannot connect. The temporary fix is to change your router configuration to make PMF optional again. The only other choices are to replace your Kindle with one that supports PMF, or once their tech support figures it out, they may have a firmware update for your Kindle. Jim

I have purchased a 3rd kindle as the other one will not charge. I have connected the right password to Amazon & it works, but the new Kindle states incorrect password. Thats what I did. No Joy. Is the password for kindle the same as Amazon? The Kindle is a series 10

Recently had trouble connecting a Kindle to home Wifi after upgrading Xfinity gateway router. Kindle is prompted to sign in to Xfinity to authenticate. The problem is that the Kindle only has an "experimental" browser that is incompatible with the Xfinity website.

The main takeaway here is that when you read "reboot" the router or gateway or whatever your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is calling it, be sure to unplug the router/gateway/whatever and leave it unplugged for an extended period of time. The technical support agent, a software robot or bot, at Xfinity suggested 10 minutes.

I bought two of the Kindle Fire tablets. One is a 32 GB and one is 64 gb. The 32gb hooked up to my internet with no problem. When the 64gb arrived, I tried to set it up but it will not connect to my internet. I called my internet provider and my internet is working correctly. Can anyone tell me what I can do? The Kindle 64 is brand new and only allows me to pick my language then I pick my internet but when I put in the password, it just states its an error to hook up to the internet. I already bought one, sent it back for replacement and was sent another for replacement. It won't connect either. Any suggestions?

I have a work around solution that may help users with this issue. I just changed broadband provider from Virgin Media to Vodafone and my household devices such as iPads, Laptops, PCs, Security Cams, Wi Fi Extenders etc all connected okay to the new Vodafone router seamlessly - and yes, you guessed it, my two Kindles (10th & 11th Generation) refused to connect. Both are updated to latest operating version.
