Hi everyone, when we met at Jason's Deli the other day, we discussed a
lot of cool ideas (many of them written on Ryan's napkin), but one
thing that needs to be setup NOW is WHEN we want to have the next
meetup. I'd really like to have one this month, and would be willing
to give a presentation, or maybe two, if we can figure out when we
want to have the next meetup. One of the big changes we discussed was
to transform the meetup from a 1-topic session to a multi-topic. What
I mean by this is that we have members of the group give lightning
talks (or spark talks which are even smaller (~5min)) about things
they've found interesting since the last meetup that they'd like to
share. If no one has anything, then our method_missing would just be
hacking on stuff (primarily our group-projects, which hopefully Ryan
or Daniel will shed some more light on).
Another topic we discussed was activism. What this really comes down
to is getting more members. So remember, if you have any co-workers
that seem remotely interested in programming, especially Ruby,
encourage them to come and hang out at our next meetup. We need to be
very open to basic questions, and also probably have a FAQ for users
just getting started. A few example questions would be:
What books do you recommend?
What blogs do you read a lot?
What does Array.inject do? :)
ETC
