I wanted to see if there's enough interest in a user group in the Huntsville area devoted to all things Functional.
I (as well as a few others from Huntsville) recently attended the StrangeLoop Conference in St. Louis (http://strangeloop2010.com/) and the first Clojure Conference in Durham, NC (http://clojure-conj.org/). To make a medium story short, I left the Clojure conference determined see if there is enough interest to sustain a functional programming user group here in Huntsville. Hence, this email to the hsv.rb group. I will also send this to the CSIG Yahoo group.
I want to keep this email short so here's what I propose:
I've made a Google group called HuntFunc at http://groups.google.com/group/huntfunc
If you are interested, go there, sign up and send out a message of your interest.
Also, forward this email to other groups that you think have members that would be interested.
If there's enough people that want to meet we'll have an initial brainstorming meeting where we can discuss various kinds of meeting activites, etc. Take a look and the Lambda Lounge site (http://lambdalounge.org/) for an idea of what a thriving group is doing.
That's about it. See you at the HuntFunc group.
