I'll be moving into a new subdivision in East Limestone County (Ridgewood
Hills, off of Capshaw about 1 mile East of East Limestone Road). What
options do I have for broadband? There's no house number yet, so I don't
know how to check for DSL. Which cable companies service that area? Do
they offer broadband?

We have Knology for cable and internet. I live off of Capshaw too...about a
mile east of Old RR Bed Rd. Dunno if that helps.

I have Charter about half a mile west of East Limestone and a par 5 north of
Capshaw. Giant pains getting it installed & set up properly last spring,
but mostly smooth sailing since. A couple of months ago PCL wired my
neighborhood and is now offering broadband as well. I haven't heard of any
of my neighbors hooking up with them, but I have friends in Athens who are
much more impressed with PCL customer service than Charter. I'm not giddy
over Charter, but PCL doesn't offer digital cable so I'm sticking with
Charter for now.

I think that DSL is mostly available in a corridor along Highway 72, but
that could have changed. Bellsouth's web page says I still can't get it.

Thanks. I found PCL, and they look pretty good. Haven't checked to see if
they go East of East Limestone Rd. Founde Charter, too but still can't
tell since the house I'm buying still doesn't have a street number (that I
know of). I found some street number of other houses in the neighborhood,
so I'll see.

Just plugged in some phone number of others in Ridgewood Hills, and their
website says "DSL not available." It's a shame, 'cause that would've made
it easy to keep my HiWAAY account.

I kept my HiWAAY dialup account after getting DSL from BellSouth.
Right now I'm so fed up with BellSouth's Usenet service, their junk
email (HTML only!), and their "not our problem" desk that the minute
HiWAAY gets competitive with its DSL pricing, I'm firing BS.
