Article about Gary Dobbs in Saturday's (2/7) Huntsville Times

I have never been a very big fan of Gary Dobbs, but I have much more
respect for him after reading the article from the Huntsville Times.
While I believe the weather forcasting in Huntsville is at best
pathetic, Gary did not use the scare tatics that Dan (Chick Little)
Satterfield uses. I also am glad Gary went on record as saying that
"Chicken Little", his Station and Station managment will one day be
responsible for someone's death.
The one thing I will miss about Gary, his forcasts of snow at least
three times a week from November till April. While he does not forcast
snow as much as he use to, he still has if forcasted much more than
anyone else. Makes you wonder if owns stock in the local bread and milk
industries.

Dobbs is suffering from the "wanna be a weatherman" syndrome.
He sucks - and his condescending attitude towards other
qualified meteorologists is disgusting.
He can't leave quick enough for me...and a ton of others

page...he's held more jobs than I own socks. Real qualified to
forecast weather - not!
dobbs owes it all to Bob Baron. Period.

Now that you mention it..."grocery clerk" would be a nice choice for
him...
In all seriousness Rex, when mr. chuckles and miss. headbobber go with
their full time radio assault, wtki will loose listeners.

Never cared for Gary's WAAY TO EARLY sarcasm
and arrogance... Perhaps, in my opinion, it was his way
of trying to get ratings from the unparalleled sarcastic
and arrogant Jamie on a neighboring "local" channel ???
Either way, I'll pass on the "local" weather forecasts.
Something about a guy who tells us about the weather
and drives a Corvette with cellular phone to do so...

Did you even read the first sentance of my post? I do not like Gary Dobbs as
a weatherman. His point of saying the WHNT and "Chicken Little" are
irresponsible for the way that they are handling weather situations was the
point. It seems that maybe you must work for WHNT to take such offense at
the comments.
Well maybe one day "Chicken Little" leaves WHNT then they replace him with a
unqualified weatherman, who still thinks he has the right to announce when
there is a warning and when there is not a warning. What is your opinion
then?

You did not respond to the last question. What happens when WHNT gets a new
Bozo to do the Weather? Does he still have the "right" to issue and cancel
warnings whenever he feels like it? If he does what is to stop Garry Dobbs or
anyone else from doing the same thing.

The question wasn't directed at me, but I'll give it a try: The next
WHNT weather guru will have the same authority to issue and cancel his
own warnings as Chief Meteorologist Dan. In other words, no authority
at all.
Whether the next WHNT Chief Meteorologist has the ego to do it anyway,
or can have his ego sufficiently inflated by WHNT's ratings-obsessed
management, is another question.
