What happened to Chris Kelly (sp?)? He was pretty cool! Let's
get him back on the morning show where he belongs.
TAK plays great music and they don't cut in on the music like
some other radio stations do (KDF).

Garbage is right! I called their office this morning and was told that

I usually switch back and forth between KDF and TAK. KDF has better
quality personalities and better music IMO. TAK sounded like a bunch
of redneck yaa-hoo's on speed.

I think WTAK's spriral first showed its ugly head the day they purchased
their closest local competition and first made the new station into an
echo of WTAK, later made it into a WZYP clone. Was this a year or two ago?
And was it 92.5 or 92.7 or somewhere in there? I was so upset I've managed
to forget!

The human mind ordinarily operates at only ten percent of its
capacity -- the rest is overhead for the operating system.
When I called WTAK to complain this morning, they told me to "put
it in writing" by faxing them at 464-3291.
Send them a deluge... please.

KDF has too many commercials. They also play too much grunge for my
taste.
I'd also like a station that didn't think that British rock is Eric
Clapton or Led Zeppelin or Bad Company.
I have never understood the tremendous popular appeal of Paul Harvey.
Once upon a time, a group of my co-workers would gather in a room and
listen to Paul Harvey's news program while they ate. This was during
the beginning of Reagan's first term. Harvey would bash the Federal
Government and its employees nonstop. These co-workers were, of
course, Federal employees. They would listen to Harvey and sit there
and nod their heads in agreement whenever he would call them idiots. I
guess it sounded okay when Harvey said it.

The bumper sticker says, "Rush Is Right", and Rush has Dittoheads. Yet
Rush has nothing on Paul Harvey who can say more in 15 minutes with 5
commercial breaks than Rush can say in 2 hours with 15 minute commercial
breaks. Guess I'm just a high speed rocker, my attention span isn't long
enough to figure out Rush. :-)
The one time I have been thankful the nominal speed on 565 was not 120 MPH
was the day flipping stations that I happened upon Rush, who was at his
elegant best raving about "back alley silicon butt implants in the shadow
of CNN headquarters, Atlanta." Laughed so hard I had to pull over and
rest.
Was this crap or what?? That's why I can't stand WKDF in the mornings. I guess
I'll just listen to tapes on the way to work until this stupid move is corrected

I called TAK at 772-9825. They wanted me to listen for a week. I don't
think so.

I had this in college (when I had a roommate with a killer stero system),
and it was great. I still listen to tapes I made from the jazz channel,
commercial free! Back then, they only had 18 channels, now I see that they
have 30.
BTW, I called TAK was was told to fax my complaint to them. ARGHHH!
heh :) okay poor choice of wording on my part.
But in case there is the slightest bit of desire to know about them they
can be viewed in person at the corner of air port and uhm ... gee I can
never remember street names for the life of me. One is in south
huntsville and one is near research park. That specific enough for ya?
They buy your old cds that you hate and then turn around and sell them
for 5.99-7.99. We've come across some pretty good stuff there.
Sunburst Records is near UAH and they have a splendid array of "classic
rock" titles. Many things that you thought you would never find here in
the deep south.

The morning show this morning was just awful! Where's Chris Kelly
when you need him. I couldn't stand listening to TAK talk, so I
switched back to KDF. I wasn't on it for more than a couple of
minutes when that stupid translator cut in. That's why I hate
listening to KDF.
TAK USED to be a great station. (Last week)
Does anyone know if TAK is online so that we can send
them e-mail?
The "John Boy & Billy" show originates out of Charlotte, NC, and, from
what I understand, is very popular there. It is especially popular
with--and I'm saying this at the risk of being stereotyped--NASCAR racing
fans, because they tend to have lots of NASCAR personalities as guests.
When I heard the show Tuesday morning, I thought I'd listen just to see
what the show was all about. I'm a NASCAR fan, but I found myself tuning
out about 5 minutes later.
As for other stations, I can't listen to KDF anymore. I just don't like
"cutting edge" music. I live in the Shoals, so I'm very familiar with
WVNA (100.3), and WFIX/WINJ (93.9). Both are great classic rock
stations, and their morning shows consist of 90% music. WVNA is in
Tuscumbia, but their signal starts to get weak around Madison. WFIX is a
translator (located in Rogersville) that's operated by WINJ (98.3) in
Pulaski, TN. Hope this helps some of you find alternatives to TAK.

I for one LIKED the "Big Show" On WTAK the last few mornings, its better
than anything on any station we've ever had since i've been living here
(7 years). I agree that more music would be nice, but TAK doesn't
do that much commercials and talk the rest of the day. I will agree that
John Boy and compnay are oriented more to the C&W market listeners, but
variety is GOOD. Makes me wonder why the "Possum" didnt pick them up and
get rid of the local bozos (who were brought in from out of town anyway).
Could be worse, at least we aint getting Howard Stern's show!

I wouldn't mind a local station picking up the Howard Stern syndication. When
I was in New York, I found his show to be very entertaining. Much more fun to
listen to than to watch on E! Anyway, didn't you just say that variety is
GOOD?
