So, my home stereo system lost all it's sound output yesterday from
its main speakers. During trouble shooting, I was able to get the Zone
2 speakers working. Nothing I did fixed the main zone. Factory reset
did nothing but loose all my settings. Still, only the Zone 2 speakers
worked. On the phone with tech support today, Crutchfield was my place
of purchase, and we went through lots-o-steps with no luck. I
mentioned to the tech that I had a cleaning person work yesterday. He
then chuckled and said, "blow as hard as you can into the headphone
jack."
Sound restored.
This model of Denon receiver has an optic sensor to see if there is a
headphone plug plugged into the jack.

Go figure!

I asked him where he came up with this. He remembered something
similar from a long time ago. Good thing; I was on the path to opening
the case and looking for blown fuses and/or bad relays.

Just figured I'd share... This was after having our 11 year old VW
towed back to the car shop. Looks like car shopping. More on that in
another post.

Great story and advice!  Reminds me of what I tell my techs all the time when troubleshooting:  start with simple things.  Who knew of THAT simple a solution?!?!?
