The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, in partnership with the Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes (CSPO) and School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University (ASU) seek to fill one or more positions at the levels ofAssistant/Associate/Full Professor in the field of engineering, policy and society. The successful candidate(s) will operate in an interdisciplinary fashion to provide focus to developing linkages among engineering, policy and society and perform in the usual roles of teaching, research and university, professional and community service activities.
The person will be expected to 1) contribute uniquely and powerfully to civil society discussion and public policy development, 2) lead research projects, and collaborate on research and educational initiatives at all scales; 3) focus on responsible and sustainable innovation and/or the governance of complex, large-scale socio-technological systems. Individuals should have technical expertise that would allow innovative, cross-disciplinary research that includes the societal and policy aspects in such fields as emerging technologies, energy, healthcare, security and /or the environment. The tenure home for the successful candidate will be Engineering.
Required Qualifications: Doctorate in an appropriate area; demonstrated research/teaching interests at the intersection of engineering, policy and society; and evidence of high performance in both research and teaching appropriate to rank.
Desired Qualifications: 1) substantial education and training in, or engagement with, engineering; 2) the ability to work across multiple sectors in research, training, and outreach; 3) relevant policy experience or training (e.g., other advanced degree in policy or related field, several years working in policy position, etc.); and 4) a specific interest in and ability to thrive within the context set by the New American University.
