The knowledge of Health Economics has become an integral part of Health Policy Planning and Research. Recent developments in India and policy directions towards Universal Health Care make the application of economic principles for improving health care delivery system even more important. The constant presence of a resource constraint in health sector once again necessitate the use of economic evaluation to guide policy decisions on priority setting such that we get the best value for money.
However taking out time from professional work for a full time course has been found to be deterrent for many professionals in undertaking continuing education. To bridge this barrier to learning, PGIMER School of Public Health, Chandigarh, is making a foray in distance education by launching an online certificate course in Basic Health Economics, primarily directed towards health care professionals, those working in the development sector and mainstream economists. Those completing this course of 3 month duration can then graduate to an Advanced Health Economics course to be delivered again through an online portal.
The first batch of online course in Basic Health Economics will tentatively begin on 7th March 2015. You are requested to kindly nominate suitable candidates from your organization. The nominations in the form of a two page CV and an expression of interest (500 words) specifying their rationale to join this course should be sent to pgime...@gmail.com latest by 1st March 2015.
