The HP Install Network Printer Wizard provides interactive or
automatic installation and setup of either wired or wireless network
printers (and All-in-One devices). Most newer printers incorporate
network configuration into the printer's CD-ROM used to install the
printer driver. However the latest version of INPW can be downloaded
from the HP web site and may have newer features, such as wireless
print server configuration capability.

Preparation

NOTE: If the computer has a firewall installed or enabled, the
configuration will fail and display an error. Therefore, temporarily
disable any firewall that may be on the computer, including firewalls
such as Sygate, Zone Alarm, BlackICE, or the Windows XP firewall.

Before using the Install Network Printer Wizard, print a Configuration
page from the printer or external HP Jetdirect print server. Printing
the Configuration page will provide useful information, including:

* the current TCP/IP address

* any Ready or Error messages that indicate network communication
status

* a network statistics section showing the amount and types of
packets the HP Jetdirect is transmitting and receiving

If the Configuration page shows an old TCP/IP address or other old
configuration settings that you do not want, restore the print server
to its factory default settings (known as a cold reset).
