Thanks for all your input! We would really like to build a valuable experience for all students. I've linked the handout we used at the meeting with our notes. Please feel welcome to comment on the document as well as in the forum.

ResComp (Housing Information Technology Office) would like to pilot a digital literacy program to give students the support and resources needed to ease the college transition. Beginning in the residence halls, students will build basic digital skills in various topic areas (See handout). As students progress through their academic and professional lives at Michigan, our partners in various departments/schools will provide individualized digital education to fit your professional or personal interests.

  1. What digital skills would you have liked to develop as a freshman?
  2. How do you currently learn or how would you prefer to learn new technologies (e.g. online videos/tutorials, in-person workshops, friends, trial and error, etc.)?
  3. How do you currently learn about technology resources on campus (e.g. digital signage, PASS, websites, academic advising, etc.) ?
  4. What digital skills would you like to have upon graduation?
  5. Are there any immediate training sessions or materials that you think should be available now in the residence halls?
  6. Do you have any suggestions for long-term programs for residents?
  7. Any other suggestions or feedback for us?
