Our Fishout is ON for Saturday 10-25-25!
Suggesting a 10:30AM arrival time, allowing for temps to warm up and hatches beginning to emerge, see below for more hatch info. Suggesting that we meet in the well marked parking lot at Heenan Lake, Google Maps link is below.
Weather is a little less than perfect: Weather prediction as of today is for cloudy skies with occasional rain showers. High 58F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Suggesting an extra set of clothes and rain gear, just to be safe.
SR 89 is open and clear. Heenan is easily accessible from 395, south of Topaz Lake and / or from 89 south of Markeelville.
Mark K. did some reconnaissance fishing last Friday, 10-17-25. Below is his report plus a pic of his 24” Trout!
Road no issue - plowed just a little snow in shady spots and north facing slopes. Fishing was slow and I was about to pack it up at noon and we got onto a hatch and I was still out there two hours later. A couple of nice fish to 24" maybe a 26”, most were 18". Bite was on for a little while otherwise slow
