Dear All,
The HSF Detector Simulation Working Group is holding its next topical meeting on 18.09.2023 at 17:30 (CERN time) under this link: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1321071/
The topic will be "Approaches and ideas for Geant4 step-parameter tuning (cuts/processes/thresholds)" for the purpose of reducing the CPU cost of detector simulation.
We believe that this is an interesting topic for the HEP simulation community (for instance in light of high-lumi etc.), and potentially an impactful subject where we can learn from each other.
Based on the replies that we received following our invitation mail in July, we have now foreseen 2 main contributions. These will talk about approaches and results from tuning efforts in ATLAS, as well as about a recently developed automatic tuning framework in ALICE. (Feel free to contact us if you like to add another report).
Please forward this notice to any other colleagues who might be interested in this meeting.
Cheers,
John, Krzysztof, and Sandro
