I'd like to draw your attention to the FOSDEM conference happening this weekend, and especially the HPC, Big Data and Data Science track:

On Sunday afternoon (Feb 6th, 17:30-18:00 CET) there will be a Developer Room dedicated to build tooling in HEP (with some input on Spack and CVMFS). This is geared towards a general technical audience, but if you can spare the time on a sunday it might be a good opportunity for a discussion with experts outside of our field.
