I’m happy to announce that we’re opening a Research Software Engineer position at the Gravitational Wave Science Centre at the University
of Geneva to work on low latency computing infrastructure for LIGO, Virgo and KAGRA. These three experiments share computing infrastructure in the International Gravitational Wave Network (IGWN), a computing model required by the need to share and co-analyse
data at low latency to enable multi-messenger astronomy. When projecting to the next generation of Gravitational Wave detectors (Einstein Telescope and Cosmic Explorer), this scientific requirement looks even more challenging and you can find more in my plenary
talk at the WLCG/HSF workshop
here.
The position is for two years, funded by a new grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation (with the possibility of extension pending
the availability of funding). Applications will exclusively be accepted online
here, if you have any questions then please feel free to contact me (
paul.l...@unige.ch)
- and note the deadline for applications is the end of the month in order to meet the challenging initial objectives.
