Mihai, Guilherme and Andy,
on behalf of the organizing team
We are pleased to announce that FTS and XRootD projects are organizing their third joint workshop to be held at
Hotel Exe Campus, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), Bellaterra (Barcelona), Spain in collaboration with
Port d'Informació Científica (PIC), from Monday 13th to Friday 17th October 2025.
The FTS and XRootD workshop will also host the WLCG Open Technical Forum (OTF) on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, focusing on the community requirements and evolution of the FTS and XRootD software for HL-LHC (Run4 and Run5). We encourage you to take part
in the discussion shaping the evolution of these systems!
The workshop agenda and registration page are available at:
For the FTS and XRootD workshop, we kindly invite you to submit your contributions using the link below:
Simply submit the title of your talk, along with the desired presentation duration. If the title is not self-explanatory, please include a brief description or context as well.
Consider submitting a presentation in one or more of the following areas:
-
Status, statistics, and projected usage of FTS and XRootD for Run3 and beyond.
-
Storage access for analysis use, including performance and CPU efficiency under realistic running conditions (e.g., local disk, EOS, Tier2, remote data access, with or without XCache).
-
Data distribution and data management needs, and use-cases within scientific communities: scientific frameworks used and how they integrate FTS and/or XRootD within their workflow.
-
Structured input and future requirements from experiments and community members on the medium-to-long term evolution of the FTS and XRootD projects (aiming at HL-LHC).
-
Discussion of related topics such as Authentication frameworks (IAM, CILogon, etc.), integration of Cloud Storage, scientific data management workflows or Network data movement optimization (e.g. scitags).
-
Desired extension or new features and how they would make your workflow easier.
This is not an exhaustive list; presentations on related subjects not mentioned above are also encouraged.
Please forward this announcement to the relevant communication channels of your community!
We look forward to seeing you at the workshop in October 2025 in Barcelona!
