APRIL 2024
Lakeshore Children’s Advocacy Center Quarterly Newsletter
April is national Child Abuse Prevention Month, an important time for children’s advocacy centers like ours! It is a special opportunity to engage our communities in critical conversations about child safety and well-being, and it is a chance to shine a spotlight on the work we do.
This month, the Lakeshore CAC team is hosting two community training events and an Open House, giving presentations to community groups, providing resources for kids at area libraries, posting daily on social media posts, writing news articles, giving radio interviews, and planting pinwheel gardens. Through these actions, we are working to elevate our prevention message of Awareness + Education + Action.
Please join us this month, as we work to raise awareness and make it clear that what happens to kids matters to all of us.

THIS QUARTER’S
TOP STORIES
Please join us next week on April 17th at the Ludington location of the Lakeshore CAC! Although our doors are typically closed to the public in order to protect the privacy of the kids and families we serve, next Wednesday they will be wide open for conversation and informal tours.
We hope you’ll drop by so we can show you around, and give you a firsthand look at the important work we are doing.
Children’s Advocacy Centers provide a coordinated response to child abuse. We also provide critical training to help educate adults to look for the signs of child abuse, know how to respond if a child discloses to you, and learn what it takes to make the report. Whether you’re a family member, neighbor, counselor, teacher, coach, or just a friend, you can help protect kids. Learn what you can do to ensure the safety and well-being of the children around you—it only takes two hours of your time, but it could make the difference for the rest of a child’s life.
All of our training is offered free to participants. Please contact us at manis...@gmail.com if you are interested in participating in a future training!
Just as protecting children is our business, it’s YOUR business, too.
At each of the libraries in Manistee and Mason counties, Lakeshore CAC donated a copy of the book From My Head to My Toes in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. The author of the book is Aly Raisman, a former member of the USA Olympic gymnastics team, and a survivor of abuse.
Every day during the month of April, we are posting to our Facebook page information on how to best protect children. We invite you to follow us at www.facebook.com/manisteecac and share our posts to help us reach a larger audience. Thank you!
