Happy August Everyone!

The Summer Packet is over and many of you have survived. We have had
great conversations over the computer this year already and I look
forward to many more as we head into the classroom. I want to thank
you for your hard work and your dedication. I would also like to
apologize for any mix-ups with the last quiz. I had to return to New
York as I said a final goodbye to my Grandmother. If I didn't respond
to you right away or if I sent you the wrong quiz please accept my
apology for any confusion - my mind was elsewhere.

But alas, here we are.

If you are receiving this email then congratulations you have made it!
You are now officially a part of AP US History. I will use all of your
grades from the Summer as your first grade in the database. Thank you
again for all your time and dedication. Keep that motivation
throughout the year and you will succeed. Also, I think it would serve
us best to establish a mindset of community in the classroom - meaning
it would be best if we didn't compete for grades but helped each other
along the way. I have learned so much from you this Summer and I know
that many of you are probably already smarter than me but we mustn't
work against each other. Let's all pool our knowledge to help each
other to get 4s and 5s on the AP test. This way we all succeed!
