To answer dj and Ted Kinsman, the New York Microscopy
Society was located in NYC, but is presently housed
in Clifton, NJ. However, they would have a membership roster
for contacts in upstate NY. http://www.nyms.org

There is also the NY Society of Experimental Microscopists
at Albert Einstein http://nysem.org, who also may be
able to help you locate upstate contacts. These are mostly
TEM resources and not SEM, but they might have some contacts
for you.
