With inputs from some people I had written to earlier, we've now fixed the syllabus of this weekend's workshop "Appreciating Hindustani Classical Music".

- Origins and evolution of Hindustani Classical Music
- Major contributors and gharaanas
2nd session:Sunday 25 June, evening
- Sur
- Raag / Aesthetics of Raag
- Linkage or Raag to time-of-day / seasons-of-year
- Recognising a particular Raag (reference to popular bhajans/folk songs/film songs for easy recall)
Practise-at-home: during week-long break
- Listening to pre-selected music snippets (from various gharaanas/styles)
3rd session:Saturday 1 July, evening
- Taal/Rhythm/Laya
- Recognising a particular Raag (practising along with instructor)
4th session:Sunday 2 July, evening
- Comparative appreciation of vocal, instrumental and dance music

Rs. 6000 for adults, There's no fee for children ( min age 8 recommended)
Learning Atmosphere
We're expecting a smallish group of people (say 10), so it will be an intimate setting (baithak style) and so there will be plenty of opportunity for close interaction / Q&A with Uday, the instructor.
