My Suggestions on your directory structure ....

I have gone through your directory structure and have also seen the contents of your "INPUT_GME2HRM" file.
I have some quick suggestions, please follow them step by step and try to re-run "gme2hrm" file.
From your binary folder I understand that your compilation of gme2hrm and hrm was proper and successful.
Now, I give you some check-points:
(1) Quite carefully check that your "INPUT_GME2HRM" file is having read-write permission and is available in
gme2hrm folder. If you cross check your own file sent to me, while you typed "ls" command in gme2hrm folder,
I did not see any INPUT_GME2HRM file. So you need to cross check that - this file is having read-write permission.
Or else you can make use of "chmod 644 INPUT_GME2HRM" command. Also you must check that all the files
used in your complete folders are proper. None of the files should have some different owner, and users group.
(2) Inside your "gme" folder, you should have two sub-folders, one "d00" and other one "const". Inside "const" folder
you should copy GME topography files "invar.192.ndvi stufff...." and similarly you should copy bitmap image files
to "d00" folder. About these file details can be cross-checked with your INPUT_GME2HRM files. Ideally, you should
copy your GME lateral boundary condition files to "d00" folder here.
(3) Similarly, inside "hrm" folder also you should have two sub-folders "d00" and "const" and you should copy HRM
topography details to "const" folder while you will obtain the HRM output files in "d00" folders.
Very strongly, I suspect that - some of your files have different ownership and are not having read-write permissions or so.
In anycase, why don't you copy your INPUT_GME2HRM file fresh to gme2hrm folder and try it again.

It looks to me that - when you are running the 'gme2hrm' binary, it is trying to find out 'INPUT_GME2HRM' file in the proper directory and it is not able to find so. Most likely, your directory structure should be something like this:
(1) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/gme
Here you should have GME lateral boundary data. Mostly, you might have one 'd00' and 'const' folders here. And more importantly, these filenames should be proper in your INPUT_GME2HRM file.
(2) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/gme2hrm
You should have INPUT_GME2HRM file here and you should run 'gme2hrm' here.
(3) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/hrm
(4) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/bin
(5) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/lib
(6) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/include
(7) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/obj
(8) /home/eiola/hrm_dwd_training/src
Can you check whether you have this kind of structure ? For me to further understand your problem, I suggest you to attach your INPUT_GME2HRM file in next mail.
