Qualifications and Experience

Electrical and Electronics / Instrumentation / Software Engineering
2. Post-Graduate degree in the above fields or in Business Management
3. 10+ years relevant industry experience
4. Experience managing teams of 100+ professionals
5. Experience running a software development centre or large
autonomous organization
6. Experience with multi-national companies
Knowledge
1. Software project and/or program management experience
2. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and estimation of software
projects
3. Exposure to Quality Models (ISO, CMM, CMMI, PCMM, etc.)
4. Experience in business management
5. Experience in telecommunications or closely related industries
6. Exposure to leading-edge software technologies
Management Level
Centre Head / Operations Head (I-level band)
Job Responsibilities:
The Centre Head / Operations Head for Client India is responsible for
projecting the development, delivery, and support capabilities of
client into the India and Asia/Pacific markets. He / she is
responsible for ownership of all of client’s customers in these
markets in all areas related to software and services development,
including product architecture, systems engineering, software/service
development, quality assurance, configuration, migration, and
support.
He / she is responsible for the recruiting strategy, staffing,
training, developing, and managing of the Client team at our
Development Centre in Chennai, and is also responsible for staffing
and managing client development teams at customer locations throughout
the India and Asia/Pacific markets.
The Centre Head / Operations Head is responsible for building strong
relationships with all Client customers in the India and Asia/Pacific
markets. He / she is also responsible for actively participating as
part of the global management team that provides overall direction for
our development and support activities in all of client locations.
The Centre Head will also be responsible and accountable for the
entire operation of the client Chennai Centre, including
administration, regulatory and statutory compliance, liaison with
local statutory authorities such as STPI, etc., and the smooth day-to-
day running of the Centre.
He / she is responsible for staffing, development and grooming of
Directors, Project Leads, and Project Managers and is expected to
facilitate career development for future leaders in Telcordia.
Key Responsibility Areas
Staffing and career development for the Chennai Centre and on-site
development teams
Management, direction, and motivation of teams in Chennai and at
customer locations
Planning and execution of large-scale development projects
Support of the sales, marketing, and product management teams in India
and the Asia/Pacific regions
Conceptualization of innovative solutions, methods to accomplish these
initiatives, and for driving them to successful results through
subordinate management and professional staff
Devising and executing innovative leadership initiatives for the
Chennai Centre
Capturing market and customer requirements and trends, and translation
of these requirements into product direction and initiatives
Leadership for forward-looking product prototypes and new technology
integration
Accountability
Project execution and completion against project plans
Architectural leadership in the design, implementation, and
integration of software deliverables
Focus on quality, on-time delivery, and development processes of the
software team
Managerial duties including staffing, performance management, salaries
and bonus structure, and career development
Management and oversight of all activities of the Chennai Centre
Internal and External Interfaces
Executive Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents, and Presidents in the
US
Human Resources, Finance, and Procurement in India and the US
Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Support organizations in
India and the US
Regulatory Authorities in India and the Asia/Pacific region
Client customers in the India and Asia/Pacific regions
Local software associations
Local educational institutions
Local NGOs and other social institutions
