Are you planning for the next big purchase for the upcoming festival or occasions or for no reasons, then just hold-on for a few more days for the much awaited online mega shopping festival, promoted by Google, India

The 'Great Online Shopping Festival' GOSF 2014 is planned for December 10 - 12 with the expected participation of many eCommerce players in India. Though the participation list is not released yet it is expected that major FMCG and Consumer durable Etailers will be taking part in GOSF this year.

The concept was introduced in India by Google in the year 2012 just as a replica of 'Cyber Monday' the first Monday after the 'Black Friday' aiming to promote eCommerce business during the festival season in the West.

Through this concept, all the participating Etailing brands will be creating a separate landing page for GOSF with all the featured products posted on it, Google will be promoting the festival with its separate website and directing the shoppers to the individual landing pages created by the respective Etailers. This will last for 2 to 3 days with special days dedicated for individual participants.

This year Indian market has witnessed a boom in the eCommerce; the industry had already witnessed large and new investments, acquisitions & expansions thereby leaving more confidence among the market players.

A month ago Flipkart.com attempted the big billion sale and bagged around $100 million in a single day, though there were technical and merchandise hiccups faced, I would say the attempt was successful for Flipkart. Few other players attempted the same in the following days,

To keep the excitement going, GOSF 2014 has already started preparing its package to be offered, 'Rs. 299/- Corner' would be a main attraction this time. The team is also in talks with some of the consumer durable brands to launch special products on this particular shopping festival day.

Having said all this, we also have to check whether the shoppers would be ready to take another online shopping festival when they are already being bombarded by offers and sales every other day by some brand or the other.
