MSI N210 512 MB graphics card in 10.8.2

i've experienced the following on 2 hacks, running 10.8.2 (i assume would apply to 10.8 or 10.8.1, but both these were fresh 10.8.2 installs)

at then end of the boot process, when the graphics should shift to the desktop, the boot stopped (gray screen with reboot message).

for who knows what reason, i guess apple dropped support (if you call one line in a plist "support") for this card, since it worked fine OOB in my lion hacks.

i added the device and vendor ID for this card (device ID  1040, vendor ID  10de) to NVDAGF100Hal.kext (dragged to desktop, edited the plist, then reinstalled with Kext Wizard).

that solved the problem.

i use this card in my hacks that don't require much graphics horsepower.  they are often on sale at fry's for $10 after rebate (last week they were $9 after rebate).
