[Jay Mulberry]

Herbert Block (Herblock) was one of Chicago's many great Chicago political cartoonists. He was born in Chicago, raised in Chicago, trained in Chicago and worked at different times for the Chicago Tribune,  the Chicago Daily News and the Chicago Sun.  That he spent decades at the chief cartoonist for the Washington Post may be considered an anomaly.

Herblock's first professional cartoon was published when he was twenty and the last when he was 91.
