Inside the mammoth Liberal Arts building at the World's Fair of 1893 dozens of companies showed off their wares.
Among them was the Gorham Manufacturing Company with a priceless display of silver and gold objects cast, most likely, in their Rhode Island headquarters.
My attention was caught by an article in the Hyde Park Historical Society newsletter that noted in passing that for the Fair Gorham made a stature of Columbus from
30,000 ounces of silver(!). (The article, by Robert Sideman, is about the Wallace Fountain on the Point [the one with the baby deer] that was also cast by Gorham.
