Vivian Maier -- at the Art Institute, 1960

Vivian Maier who worked as a nanny all her life and died poor

was one of the great street photographers of the 20th century.

But her work was totally unknown until Maier’s massive body of work came to light 2007 at a 

thrift auction house on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
