Hi there

Just joined this group. Am really just investigating HPI as a possible
way of improving my partner's gut. She has had huge problems with
infections since having multiple courses of antibiotics around 10
years ago (and more since). We're looking at other ways of healing
(such as cleansing the gut with probiotics and soil-based organisms,
and healing it with various supplements like aloe vera, and even
enzymes) but I'm concerned that this won't work. Much of what I've
read recently suggests that non-human bacteria will only have limited
success in the human gastro-intestinal tract, so I want to definitely
keep our options open.

Good to see some positive stories and activity on this site :-)

Hi John!

Welcome, and sorry for not replying sooner, but as you can see this is
a pretty inactive group.

Now, about your question... Does your partner have a diagnosis of
C.Difficile infection, or Ulcerative colitis? Because that's what this
therapy is targeting, although I suppose it could work in a variety of
situations where probiotics would be beneficial. The best way to
classify it would be as a "super-probiotic" or "total-probiotic"
therapy... That said, you really should provide more detail about your
partner's condition, and your experience with "standard" medicine.
Also, you are aware that there's a "home infusion protocol" uploaded
under files? This procedure can be performed at home but there are
some rather important precautions that would require medical
assistance...

Hello

Hi - thanks for the welcome.

My partner does not have a specific gut-related diagnosis. She has
chronic lyme disease, misdiagnosed for a long time as CFS/ME, and has
been ill for around 10 years now. She is housebound, and for long
periods of time has been bedbound. Her main symptoms are post-
exertional exhaustion, frequent acute bacterial infections (sunusitis,
bladder and chest infections), chronic and frequent acute viral
infections, muscle pain and weakness.

Her actual gut symptoms are not serious like they are with ulcerative
colitis or C Difficile. She does have dysbiosis, a recurrent candida
infection and quite frequent loose stools. But I firmly believe that
many chronic illnesses are gut related (some interesting work being
done with children with autism in this area).

The home infusion protocol looks interesting as it makes a lot of
sense. We're not going to rush into it, but it does seem interesting
and are willing to try it if other things fail.

Regards

John
