I was wondering how people felt after their transfusions. Did you
feel an improvement right away, or did it take months afterwards?
Also if you are in remission before you start how do you know that the
transfusion has made a difference or could it just be the drugs you
are taking for remission?

I guess like everything else with this disease everyone's experience
will be different but I was just wondering. Thanks.

Hi,

Days prior to the infusion I still had blood coming with the stool, right after the first infusion day everything as I knew it, changed or stopped. Next day i had formed stools as well.
Difficult to say, i mean I was  taking the regular medication for UC for  years and stopped it the the first day of the infusion. It was the BEST thing I ever did, I regained my energy. I never took any medication since 2 years. The disease is not gone but it is much better controlable.
I am planning this week a top up of 2 days with a very healthy family member just to see how it improves or what the effects are. It takes testing, trying I mean there is no much of a choice and it works in anyway.

Prior to my infusion I had only had diarrhea for a very long time.
Years. I made no change of drugs before and after. Within days my
bowels started becoming more formed, and formed bowels are now the
norm, whereas it was the other way around before the treatment. Also
I rarely suffer from urgency now. That is a big relief. I may not be
cured, but it's not a big problem now and I am much happier for it.
